First Socks: Around the Horn. Er, heel

Ha! I conquered heels!

On a sad note, my mother's year-old dog died of congenital heart failure this morning. She and The Boy are inconsolable.

First Socks: And There Was Cuff

Well, there are still three rows to go before the cuff is finished. But, eh, close enough. Then I will turn the heel and begin the gussets. Woohoooo!

A Little News

On the knitting front, I'm still working on the socks. I'm into the 3rd repeat of the lace pattern. I love the yarn, I love the pattern, and I love the socks. Love them!













I'm wondering if I have enough yarn to add a couple of pattern repeats to make them higher. And I figured out that if I had done them toe-up, I could have reversed the chart! Interesting...

But a lot of my interest and focus has been on this: the Van Morrison concert at the United Palace Theater in NYC, Oct 12-14. Oh, yes, I have tickets. And oh yes, I AM going. I am so psyched!

First Socks: In the Beginning

Thanks to my Secret Pal from SP10, I am attempting my first socks. They are cuff down, on two circs, in Cookie's Monkey Socks pattern. The book I am attempting to learn from is the Crazy Toes and Heels. It's been tough-going, but then most of my knitting is!
But here is the cuff, and nearly one entire pattern repeat. What do you think so far? And I really need to run a lifeline. Really.

2nd Hat

Same pattern - classic watch hat. Manos del Uruguay - colorway 55 (olive). Love the color, not so enamored of the thick/thin anymore.
















On the knitting front, I cast-on 3 times today for socks. To say it's not going well is an understatement. However, I, being the stubborn person I am, shall persevere. I'm sure I have time tonight to try another 3 or 4 cast-ons.
