Stash Pictures

I said stash, heh heh.

Oh, yeah. And the colors are more vibrant in person. I had thought of the Noro scarf. But now, hmmmm, maybe something else. Any suggestions? Meanwhile, I'll be off petting and stroking and fondling my new yarn.

So Much For The Yarn Diet

I think my trip to the yarn store in NYC got me jonesin' for some yarn. So much so that I wanted some yarn so bad I could taste it. Gotta get me some yarn, get me some yarn, get me some yarn, gotta get me some yarn, gotta, gotta, gotta... Well, I'm sure you all know the feeling. So I gave into temptation, and placed an order from Yarn Country. I ordered some Cascade 220 for a couple of Harry Potter scarves, in the Gryffindor colours, naturally. Miles worth of knitting to be done, eh? And I also ordered some of the Noro Silk Garden, in the 252, 264 and 268 colourways, originally for the striped scarf. But after looking through some of Ravelry's patterns, I'm also considering Argosy. Or something else that brings out the intriguing stripes. Except for a horizontally striped sweater. I don't think that would look terribly flattering. The yarn should be delivered on Thursday. Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait, gotta get me some yarn, gotta, gotta, gotta!

Pictures to wave under under your nose, er, I mean, share with you, absolutely, share with you, to follow said delivery. I'm sure you're waiting as impatiently as I.

The Yarn Harlot Missed

I went into NYC on Wednesday to see the Yarn Harlot, and snag my very own copy of her signed book. And to see her again, of course, because that's always a treat!

I got into the city, and had an early lunch here:

I have to say I was a little disappointed. The prices had gone up, and it wasn't as good as usual. Why on earth did they use a caraway rye instead of sourdough bread?

Undeterred, I made my way to a knitting store on 78th and Amsterdam. I forget the name of it, Knitty Something. I really liked the store, what a great selection. But since I'm on a yarn diet, let's just say I stuck to the diet. So that was kind of depressing. Okay, it sucked big time. But it wasn't the stores fault!

Then I made my way to the Borders at Columbus Circle. I wanted to see if I needed a bracelet, or whatever to get in later. I did not. In fact, the girl at the door had no idea what I was talking about, and sent me to the manager. I did buy a copy of the book, I thought that would save time later. I didn't see anywhere to sit, however. So I wondered the shops, looking for somewhere to sit. Nada. So I went back to the Borders, grabbed a cup of coffee, and went out to Columbus Circle. Sitting where the wind was blocked, I finally warmed up, and took these pictures:

I sat and read until the sun disappeared behind a building, and began to get quite cold. My ears began to ache, and my face was freezing. I started to wonder where I could go to warm up. I considered spending the next 4 hours in a bar, but decided that would leave me in no condition to make my way back to see Stephanie. Shop? No, I don't feel like shopping. So I gave up, and went home. I did read the book on my way home, so that was a plus. But I was there in spirit! All in all, the day was kind of a bust.
